NEW SOUTH WALES - A GEOLOGICAL JOURNEY
I spent 5 weeks touring New South Wales, in the company of my Australian brother and his wife. They like fossicking and have done some in various parts of Australia including the iron mining areas of the North West. They have recently lived in Tasmania but were in New South Wales when I visited them. We travelled roughly due west from the Hunter Valley to the mining area of Broken Hill then south to Victoria before turning east to the Blue Mountains and north back to Newcastle and their home in Singleton. I had difficulty at the airport on the way back because of the weight of rock in my luggage but they took pity on me in the end and labelled everything - 'heavy luggage' - and let me through.
